Left Ventricle
The ventricles are the two lower chambers of the heart. Ventricular contraction follows atrial contraction, and is stronger and longer than the latter. They are separated by a thick muscular wall called the interventricular septum. Blood is expelled to the aorta by the left ventricle. The left ventricle is separated from the left atrium by the mitral valve. The left ventricle receives oxygenated blood from the left atrium and propels it into the body through the aorta.
