Online first aid courses

Idaho follows the federal OSHA rule (29 CFR 1910.151(b)): no numeric first-aider-to-worker ratio, but in the absence of a nearby infirmary or hospital the employer must ensure one or more persons are adequately trained to render first aid. OSHA reads 'near proximity' as a 3-4 minute response for higher-hazard sites and up to 15 minutes for low-hazard offices, otherwise a trained first-aider must be on site.

Idaho childcare licensing (Idaho Code § 39-1109; IDAPA 16.06.03 and 16.06.12.802) administered by the Department of Health and Welfare requires at least one adult on the premises to hold current pediatric CPR and first aid certification whenever children are present, and all providers must be certified. The statute calls for certification from a certified instructor, so a blended course with an in-person skills check should satisfy it.

Idaho Code § 5-330 shields any person who in good faith and without compensation administers emergency first aid at the scene of an accident or emergency, with immunity lost only for gross negligence. The same protection extends to the acquisition and good-faith use of an AED.

For Idaho registered nurses the Board of Nursing frames renewal around continued competency rather than a fixed CE-hours tally: a nurse must complete two qualifying activities, with 15 CE hours counting as one category alongside practice hours and professional engagement. Recognized continuing education, including advanced life-support courses such as ACLS and PALS, can fill the CE category.

In Idaho, residential care and assisted living facilities (IDAPA 16.03.22) must have at all times at least one direct-care staff member certified in first aid and CPR, and certified nurse assistants must hold a current Health Care Provider CPR card (Board of Nursing, IDAPA 24.34.01). A recognized, up-to-date certificate meets the obligation and is renewed periodically.

In Idaho, first-aid and CPR classes from a recognized organization are used to meet the foster-care (resource parent) licensing requirement, administered by the Department of Health and Welfare, Child and Family Services. It is one requirement in addition to pre-service training, the home study and the family suitability assessment, with certification kept current through recurring refreshers.

Online CPR and first aid training is recognized in Idaho for personal, childcare-licensing and employer purposes, with certification valid for 3 years. OSHA does not prohibit online training for the workplace requirement but recommends hands-on skills practice (OSHA 3317), so blended training with a practical skills assessment is accepted.
